Andy and I drov e up and met Bill at the trailhead for Princeton on Saturday night. We arrived around 830 pm, and we didn’t really know what to do with ourselves. Andy and I have grown used to getting to trailheads with time for only 1 or 2 hours of sleep before its time to go, sometimes none. So when it looked like we were going to get 8 or so hours of sleep it was shocking. We set the leave time for 6 am, and as usual, we were a little late, we left around 615 am. We saddled up the ATV’s (thanks bill) and drove up the road.
You can currently get to the radio towers, but we were able to drive a couple hundred feet higher by atv, and did so. We parked around 11k and started up. We walked up and around on the road to the trail cut off and proceeded to boot up towards the summit of Tigger, in the end we got lazy and did a climbing traverse to the saddle between tigger and Princeton. From here we climbed a mix of snow, gravel and talus…all of which are a joy in ski boots.
We arrived at the summit somewhere close to 11 and all of remarked on feeling slow today. We waxed up the skis a little and skied down the ridge to our descent couloir and dropped in on a mix of nice corn and sloppy water skiing. Our descent took us down about 2800 vertical and there we stopped and did a contouring traverse around to the road and back to the atv’s.
