Our first objective of the day. This fell into the category of “that looks like fun, let’s go ski that!”
Our plan for the day is to go ski the east Couloir on Electric peak first thing, followed by a trip up to see what is going on with Mount Greystone.
No need for skins this morning as our trip starts out with a downhill traverse from camp to the base of the chute. It only takes a few minutes and we are putting skis on our backs and crampons on our feet. On to the stair master we go.
We really can’t ask for a more beautiful day.
Nick climbing through the choke point.
Arriving at the top we don’t really feel as though we have time to run up to the summit before the Couloir gets to hot. Spikes in the bag and skis on our feet we leap frog our way down the chute.
I dropped in first:

Ben:
A hard right hand turn at the bottom has us in position to put the skins on and head up the channel between electric and arrow to scope out some more skiing. A line we had seen on arrow did not go through so we continued up the basin to see what the Greystone area had to offer.
Turns out that Greystone is full of ski possibilities. We make a plan to hit up a couple of them.
We skin across the basin and up to the base of the left Couloir. The snow in the basin has started to get warm and I find three to six inches of snow glopping up on the bottom of my skins. It really is spring. We make our way into the Couloir where there is a nice transition to winter again as it is more north facing.
Nick and Ben part way up the Couloir. The booting ranged between boot top and knee deep soft snow.
Out the top of the chute we hang a right and continue up the ridge to the summit of Greystone. Some interesting climbing ensued.
The ridge isn’t entirely straight forward, here I find myself back out on the face climbing around obstacles.
Here I find myself climbing around some obstacles back out on the face.
Time to ski. I drop in and ski the majority of the line to setup with the zoom lens.

Nick:
Now what hadn’t been mentioned yet is the fact that we booted up one chute to ski another. Plan is to boot back up the same chute and ski it now. With tiring legs we put one foot in front of the other one more time.
Nick and Ben topping out for the second time on the same chute.
Ben drops first:
Jordan:
Slight camera malfunction kept us from getting any of Nick.
Time to head back to camp for the day.
Unsure of what the next day might hold we hang out and relax for the rest of the day. The views never really get old here in the Weminuche.
