Traveling, Ski Mountaineering and Climbing in Colorado and…

Grizzly

Colter, Austin, and I headed up to Grizzly this year before the road opened. It’s a bit late and probably convinced me that I was just about over the spring skiing bit. But here are a few pictures.

I was salivating looking over to Grizzly the other day. I agree with you Jordan that skiing is just about over here but I am psyched you got out one more time! Perhaps the Northwest is calling you!?

Haha maybe Art, but I think I might just give in to summer and give the haggered feet a rest. Perhaps try and actually improve on the rock for a summer.

This is timely! Thinking of hitting up that route this weekend if I can juggle with Colo trail MTB training. Any idea if the road will be open?

what time did you drop in?? how deep was the mush? did you boot pack up the couloir? or run up a ridge? and was it frozen on the way up? what time did you start up the couloir? THX!

    Hey Scott,
Not til about 1, because we were waiting for the suncups to soften all the way. We booted up the East couloir, but the main line would have been fine. Obviously an earlier start is needed later in June here. Couple friends skied it this past weekend, and did not speak very highly of the snow conditions. Also, it will be a lot of dry ground before you get to put your skins on at this point.

    Good Luck,
    Jordan

Snow must have improved, we found pretty good conditions Sunday around 11am top down to the lake. Stay far skiers right below the lake on the out to avoid nastyness.
