Traveling, Ski Mountaineering and Climbing in Colorado and…

On a Less Serious Note

Anton Sponar, Caleb Wray and I got out for some skiing yesterday. It has gotten a bit warm in Colorado this week and we opted to stay away from the solar aspects and just play on the North facing stuff. The conditions didn’t disappoint. I’m a little worried about what this storm is going to do though as there was a pretty serious surface hoar layer hanging around and getting thick! This type of a snow certainly makes for some fun skiing, and a cool sound when you ski through it.

It's days like these that make you forget about all of life's problems.

Skiing north facing aspects usually provides poor light for photo opportunities, but I don't think Anton really cares, he still makes it look good.

Black and white is always a good option. Caleb finally makes it out to our playground this year.

Yours truly enjoying the day.

The light was great up on the ridges. You have to go up to go down I always say.

Our 3rd and final run of the day. When the snow is this good, it just doesn't take much motivation to go ski it.

Laying them over.

I think Mr. Wray almost cut Anton's toes off.

The sunset was nothing to sneer at. We took lots of pictures.

Back to work now. But I needed this sort of day. It just makes you feel better.

Found your site browsing CO backcountry pow. I’m from ‘bonedale but didn’t ski tour/mountaineer till 5 years ago up here in WA and am wondering about back home. You have some sick lines, and wondering if you have any suggestions for good areas (or good literature on the matter). No worries… I can’t poach your lines as I only make it up back home over the xmass time. if you have any advice. Thanks dude.
