Elks and Beyond -- Jordan White's Traveling, Skiing and Outdoor Adventures

Traveling, Ski Mountaineering and Climbing in Colorado and…

A quick turn around

Nate and I took a jaunt into the backcountry today to see what’s what after both being gone for a few days and with all the moisture we have had we were curious. Answer is, it didn’t freeze last night very well at lower elevations and the snowpack is still suffering from what looks like a rain event above snowline. Breakable crust over the top of pure mash is what we found and it didn’t take very long to rip the skins and head back home for some more sleep. And guess what? It’s raining again. We did have some cool light this morning though and I figured I’d share a photo.

Early morning light never fails to impress. Even when the snow isn't cooperating.

When I came back so early the pooch certainly didn’t mind!
